The first nine weeks has gone by so fast and even our first conference is over. Thanks to all of the parents for making our class have 100% participation! My students and I am fortuante to have such great caring parents.
This coming week is ITBS testing. We will be testing everyday, Monday thru Friday, and next Monday and Tuesday. We will be taking 8 different tests. This is the first year for 3rd graders to test so it is important that we stress that they do their best, have a good breakfast and a good night's sleep. We will be having a pizza party to celebrate our success sometime in January.
Friday, November 19, is our Doughnuts for Dads Day. We are looking forward to honoring our dads and important people in our lives. Please meet in the lunch room at the elementary by 8:45.
As I am writing this it is snowing quite heavily, so please have your child wear winter clothing to school. (or bring it along) We will be going outside and it is no fun to stay on the blacktop! Students can wear their gym shoes so there is no need to send another pair of shoes with snowboots.
Thanksgiving is also quickly approaching. I am wishing you the best holiday ever.

What amazing weather we have had all Fall! We have been so fortunate. Now that the weather is getting cooler remember tyo send warm coats and hats with your child. We do go outside for recess!
Our Halloween Party was so much fun! Thank you to everyone who provided snacks! They were "spook"tacular!
The limbo game was fantastic. Everyone had a wonderful time especially our winner, Carson. All of the students are very limber! Check out the pictures.
The costumes were terrific. The parade was lots of fun and we enjoyed going from room to room looking at the other kids.
Dates to remember are tomorrow and Thursday-November 2 and 4, conferences, and no school on Friday.
Also, we will be starting ITBS testing on November 15, so I will be visiting with you about that at conferences.
Hope you have had a great fall! Your kids are awesome!!

We have adjusted to 3rd Grade!!
We are adjusting to our grade very nicely. There are several new things that we are working on. This week we started our MAP testing. Last spring the students did a reading and math MAP test, but in 3rd grade they do math, reading, language arts, and science. We will test again in the spring to measure growth. I will go over the results with you at conference.
Also a first for 3rd graders is the Iowa Test of Basic Skills. We will be taking these in November this year. We have been do some pretesting with samples so the students know how to take the test and learn to use different test taking strategies.
We have had several celebrations in September-lots of birthdays! We also earned a pajama party because our behavior jar was filled!! Good job 3rd graders! We are already working on filling the jar again and looking forward to planning another celebration!
Trying to add new pictures with our Kindergarten partners, hope it works!!

Homecoming 2010
Our class is getting excited for homecoming. We are making BIG banners for the football field and for the High School gym. Tuesday was silly sock day, Wednesday is favorite team day, Thursday and Friday are Spirit Days! Go Cougars!!
We are meeting with Mrs. Larson's kindergarten class this week and working on All About Me stories for the kindergarteners.
We celebrated Brayden's birthday and it was great that his mom could visit our classroom and stay for lunch.
Next week is Map testing so plase encourage your child to do their best on their test.
We are doing a wonderful job in 3rd grade3 and learning more each day.
Thanks for all of your help.
Keep signing planners and read at home!
